چکیده
Abstract Appropriately used, computational fluid dynamics models are powerful tools to design and optimize primary settling tanks (PSTs). This paper uses a Fluent-based 3D model identify the possible causes for underperformance of circular PSTs at Cali waste-water treatment plant, Colombia, propose modifications improve performance. A new configuration center well (CW) is proposed evaluated. The influence rotational sludge scraper continuous removal were considered in numerical simulation. included modification current CW diameter location second baffle with CW. results suggest that installation allows more uniform flow distribution within PST consequently, hydrodynamic problems associated short-circuiting influent bottom tank reduced. suppresses downward current, effectively dissipates kinetic energy forces particles move toward PST. In addition, formation inlet zone consistently concentrated blanket layer thicker sludge, reducing risk solids leaving effluent

Three Dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis of a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell
A full three-dimensional, single phase computational fluid dynamics model of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) with both the gas distribution flow channels and the Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) has been developed. A single set of conservation equations which are valid for the flow channels, gas-diffusion electrodes, catalyst layers, and the membrane region are developed and numer...

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
A New Three-Dimensional Sector Element for Circular Curved Structures Analysis
In this research paper, the formulation of a new three-dimensional sector element based on the strain approach is presented for plate bending problems and linear static analysis of circular structures. The proposed element has the three essential external degrees of freedom (Ur, Vθ and W) at each of the eight corner nodes. The displaceme...
متن کاملTransient Response of Sloshing Fluid in a Three Dimensional Tank
Sloshing waves in moving tanks have been studied numerically, theoretically and experimentally in the past several decades. Most reported studies have been for tanks excited by forcing motion in a limited number of directions and with fixed excitation frequencies throughout the forcing. In the present study, a time-independent finite difference method is used to simulate fluid sloshing in the t...
